RESTAURANTS

Hotel Větruše provides a really good quality of meals. It is situated on the hill above the river Labe. To get there, you can go by car or there is a cabin railway from OC Forum (www.forumustinadlabem.cz) and back. https://www.cukrovar.com/ belongs a to surprising resorts in the middle of a industrial zone of Lovosice. Their food is the above-the-average quality.

Pivovar Na Rychtě offer their own beer, which we definitelly recommend to taste, and a good choice of meals. To park your car, go to the OC Forum, where 3-hour parking is free of charge.

Pepe Lopez  provide mexican meals with a specific fitting. Park in the OC Forum for 3 hour free of charge.

Pension and Restaurant Dubičky  is a restaurant close to a church, which you can see on the hill when looking to the south-west direction. Have a walk (more than 1 hour) or go there by car. (It is 4 kilometers far, not more, but most of navigations are trying to lead you for a 17-kilometer ride. Go through Moravanska street to make it shorter.) They will offer you a good Czech meal for reasonable prices. Cash payment only.

U Becků  is another restaurant in Dubice with typical Czech meal offer. See the point above to see how to get there.

To taste the Czech well-known beer, Pilsner Urquel, you can also visit the pub "U Matzků". They do not cook, but you can have a good beer, chips & cheese. After you leave the house to the main street, go the to the left and the pub is 300 metres far. They are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

SHOPPING

Local shop:  There is a small shop behind the building offering fresh baked goodz and plenty of other stuff. (Mon - Sat 8 - 11 and 14 - 17. Sun 8 - 11.) Cash only payment.

In Ústí nad Labem and Lovosice, there are several supermarkets belonging to the brands of Globus, Lidl, Penny, Kaufland. They operate from 8 to 22, typically, but check their websites or ask us before you go there after 20 o'clock.

TOWNS TO VISIT

Dolní Zálezly, where the Villa Federes is situated, have a better history than present: The town used to be a sun spa centre until the World War II. Today, you can leverage on several opportunities: Hiking paths, biking paths. There are also regular boat connections on the river. (Jul - Aug from Wed to Sun; other months Sat and Sun.)

Litomerice have a very picturesque city centre and history and many good restaurants. From Dolni Zalezly, boat is available at 10:40 - see above.

Teplice represent a real spa town providing cultural events. This town is also a closest opportunity to visit a thermal spa.

Decin city centre is a pleasant place to see.

When going to Prague by car, we recommend to use P+R parking (Listova street, Prague - CZK 20 from morning to evening) and to the centre by metro (from station Letnany to station Muzeum it takes 20 minutes). Before you leave the parking, there are payment machines with plenty of buttons. Make it easy: Pres button marked as 1, press button 2, pay CZK 20 and show the bar code to the reader. When the machine starts printing the bill, your parking is paid.

INTERESTING PLACES

There are plenty of beautiful historical places you can visit. Please, check the webpage of the castle / chateau before you decide to visit the place: They are open from April to September, typically, and randomly in other months.

Tripadvisor helps you to find other interesting places of the region.

There are waterfalls close to the town: A bigger waterfall and a smaller one

Do you like the Zoos? There is one in Usti nad Labem and a minizoo in Teplice

CASH, CREDIT CARD OR ATM

When searching for cash, find a Czech word 'bankomat' at online maps. However, credit cards are accepted in most of the places in the Czech Republic and the change rate is decided by your bank.

We do not recommend to change cash outside a registrated office (marked ad 'Change', 'Wechselstube', 'Směnárna') - an unknown guy can try to sell you false banknotes, when changing on the street.

Definitelly, change your currency in an office. Before you do, ask the clerk for the final value you get including commisions. This way you can avoid from a high commision charged esp. in Prague offices in the city centre. Typically, you should get about CZK 24 per EUR 1, or CZK 22 per USD 1, so when some office offers you CZK 16 per EUR 1 as a final price, leave them alone and save your money for a better business.

From April 1, 2019, all change offices will have to withdraw the change if you ask them in 3 hour after the visit. (This protection is up to EUR 1.000 transactions, only, but gives you an opportunity to get a better rate. Always take your bill they have to print at all operations.)
